It was a year ago that our parents finally came back from Africa, which we originally thought was on the other side of the back yard, but later learned was like another state or something. While they were gone, we lived with our Nanny Meg. We liked her. She liked us. It all worked out great. We miss her a lot. Especially now that there’s a baby in the house, which makes us feel like second-class citizens. But we’re cool. He’ll be old enough to play with us soon, and there’s always our housemate Jenny. She lets us sleep in her room even. Here’s to you, Meg.

Pippy and I had a pretty good Christmas, I guess. That green bush the humans brought in here is pretty neat, and makes for some nice cover when plotting an attack.

Champ the cat inspects the Christmas tree (a.k.a "green bush").

Pippy the cat assumes her regular position right next to the "green bush"

Champ invented the cat nap, which was made even more comfortable by a nice fleece blanket his grandma made him.

Champ the cat perches beneath the "green bush" while pausing during play with his new mouse.

Pippy here. Our dad was busy last weekend with grandpa cutting, sawing and tearing up the wall and making a mess. But now we have a brand new palace for our poop box! Our litter box used to be in the guest bathroom tub, where we enjoyed lots of privacy and proximity to the drinking fountain. But we were always tracking litter all around the place and generally making the bathroom unusable for guests. So my dad designed an out house of sorts to hold our cat box – and even designed it to keep our litter from tracking all over the house. We’re still getting the hang of the swinging cat door, but we love our new palace in the garage.

The Pippy and Champ Poop Palace

The litter box sits at the back, with about a foot of wire to cross before re-entering the house, which keeps 98% of the litter from coming inside. The palace also has a lid that keeps us out of the garage.

This past weekend we started out fifth human year, which in cat terms makes us 35, which means we are older than our parents. That also makes us officially wiser, though we’ve known that for a long time. We celebrated the day with neighbors and friends. Mom made homemade berry cobbler. It was awesome.

Champ turns 4, or rather 35 and is now older than his parents?!
